THE FORGOTTEN GIRLS by Owen Laukkanen

The Forgotten Girls by Owen Laukkanen

You don’t ever surf trains on the High Line. You’ll either die from exposure during the winter season or the ghost rider will get you.

But the girl has to reach the west coast and she has to get warm. It was a deadly mistake and one that brings the FBI-BCA violent crimes unit team of Kirk Stevens and Carla Windermere into the picture when a photo of the dead girl shows up on the telephone of a man in their area.

When the girl’s body is found later in Idaho, the team heads out in the bitter weather to find out who this girl is and if she is related to more missing girls. But they aren’t the only ones that are searching for a killer.

Through howling blizzards, extreme temperatures and crossing state lines and borders Stevens and Windermere, along with some local law enforcement hurry to find a serial killer before another girl is killed, unaware that another girl is getting closer every minute to this madman.

The story is told from multiple points of view, including the killer’s. The chapters were short and the story moved along at a good pace until the end. Where it was a little wordy. But it didn’t distract from the story, I think I was just anxious to know what was going to happen.

I am quite fond of Carla. She is a wonderful character. Strong, and not backing down from any situation. In the end she or the killer will be out of the game. Who will it be?

This book is due to be released March 14, 2017
